Light Effects | Tracy Everly, Mare McClellan, Christine Lafuente

September 7 – 30, 2021
Open House, Meet the Artists: Sunday, September 26, 1:00 – 4:00 pm

Light is a key subject in the work of these three artists. Everly’s paintings are grounded in an intuitive response to observation. Light gives shape and texture to the structures in her landscapes. Inspired by years of painting en plein air, Lafuente captures the play of light across her floral still lifes like late afternoon sun across a landscape. McClellan, a native plant specialist, literally paints and stitches light, imagining “beams and gleams of sun” pouring down from the sky to plants and earth.

can you feel the chorus
of water and green
of wings and earth
singing from every fiber of their beings,
“yes, please,
oh beams and gleams of sun,
shine for us.”
